MPS staff, students and friends participate in Heart Walk

Heart walk team mps

More than 400 Milwaukee Public Schools staff, students and community members attended American Heart Association’s Heart and Stroke Walk at Veteran’s Park last month.

Team MPS was led by proud Superintendent, Dr. Darienne Driver, who also served on the Executive Leadership Team for the event. Students from Riverside, Vincent, Bay View, and Washington High School Culinary Arts students attended to offer healthy snacks, as well as the Drumline from Bay View and the Cheer teams from Riverside, Vincent, and Bay View who help kick off the walk at the start line.

Walkers and 5k runners for Team MPS raised over $16,500 dollars for the American Heart Association! The dollars raised for this event will benefit the well-being of our Milwaukee community through support of research, treatment, and community health initiatives in the Milwaukee area. There is no doubt that the contribution of Team MPS absolutely makes Milwaukee a healthier place to live, work, and learn.

The team wore t-shirts deeming MPS “the heart of the city”. T-shirts are still available for purchase – call 414-773-9829 to learn more.
