Sydnee Roby announces choice to play for University of MiamiIn a room crowded with friends, family, teammates, and media at MPS Rufus King International High School, Sydnee Roby spoke about her sports career and future goals, then announced her college decision by unzipping her Rufus King Generals warmup jacket to reveal a bright orange jersey belonging to the University of Miami. Local and national media have kept an eye on 6’3” Sydnee throughout her high school career, beginning when she was a varsity starter as a freshman. Sydnee was also pursued by California, Louisville, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, and right here at home, Marquette University, in addition to other schools.

Sydnee is currently ranked #64 in the country by ESPN, and last year, averaged 17.0 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 2.7 blocks. As a junior, she was named 2017–18 Gatorade Player of the Year for Wisconsin.

Craig Machut has known Sydnee since middle school and has coached her throughout high school. "Today is just another step in how proud I am of her and how lucky I am to have the opportunity to work with her,” he said. “She's such a confident, strong young woman that it's been an awesome journey to see her develop into who she's become.

Congratulations, Sydnee! The entire Milwaukee Public Schools district is proud of your accomplishments.
