Vincent High School of Agricultural Sciences celebrates their own!

Vincent High School of Agricultural Sciences is beyond proud of one of their own, Lydia Rivera-Holey. After graduating from Vincent in 2007, she began attending the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, earning her bachelor's degree in 2012 in Sports Management. While attaining her degree, she enlisted in the Minnesota Army National Guard, where she served for over 9 years. During her time in college, she also completed several internships, including a local television station, TCF Bank Stadium, as well as in the Emerging Markets area for the Minnesota Twins. Upon graduation, and while still enlisted in the National Guard, she worked as a Marketing and Advertising Coordinator for the Minnesota Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Battalion. At this time, she also began working for security at the largest shopping mall in the United States, the Mall of America.

In 2017, Lydia began to miss Milwaukee. She knew that she wanted to continue to serve her community, so she ended her tenure with the Minnesota Army National Guard, moved back to Milwaukee with her dog Opal, and enrolled in the Milwaukee Police Academy. After successfully completing the Academy in June of 2018, Lydia joined the Milwaukee Police Department working at District 3. She has found herself in the spotlight on several occasions, including a moment where she and other officers from her district pooled their money together to purchase and hand deliver gifts for the students at Mary McLeod Bethune Academy on the city's Northside in December of 2018. She found herself in the news again recently as she was spotlighted for her work within Milwaukee Police Department's New Traffic Safety Unit, which is designed to saturate various parts of Milwaukee to enforce traffic laws, educate the community, and engineer safer streets.

Lydia has dedicated her life to the protection of her community. Her courage, committment, and love for others is why Lydia Rivera-Holey is celebrated as a Vincent High School of Agricultural Sciences alumni “heroes among us.”
