Year-round, first responders’ brave challenges so the rest of us may stay safe. In honor of their hard work and dedication, MPS Alumni would like to honor and celebrate these heroes for selflessly protecting and serving our communities. We honor the courage, commitment, and sacrifices of those in the fire service, law enforcement, and emergency medical services (EMS) communities, as well as our nation’s public servants. Join us in celebrating the Alumni “heroes among us” during these crucial times in our lives.

Job title: Health Director/Health Officer

North Shore Health Department

Ann Christianson -Ann, a 1990 graduate of Milwaukee High School of the Arts and has been involved in the COVID-19 response since the beginning of the pandemic. As the Health Director/Health Officer for the North Shore Health Department, she gave the first press conference on March 13th, 2020 for the first COVID-19 case in Milwaukee County. She is currently a Duty Officer for the Milwaukee County Unified Emergency Operations Center, which is leading response in Milwaukee County as a structure of 11 local health departments, health care systems, police and fire departments, the business community, and others. Public health agencies like the one led by Ms. Christiansen are responsible for preventing and controlling the spread of COVID-19 by isolating people who have Covid, following up on close contacts, supporting community mitigation strategies like wearing masks and keeping physically distance. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids.
