Happy Thanksgiving to all our students, staff, and families

Happy Thanksgiving from MPSHappy Thanksgiving to all our students, staff, and families! MPS wishes all of you an enjoyable and relaxing Thanksgiving break. School is in session Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26, but MPS schools are closed Wednesday, November 27, through Friday, November 28.

With children home from school, we encourage students to keep reading and learning! Children should try to read at least 10 minutes per day per grade level—20 minutes in second grade, 30 minutes in third grade, and so on. Playing board games can help children practice reading and math skills, develop patience, and learn how to be a good sport. Families can try cooking or baking as a family activity—using a recipe can support reading and math skills. To find suggestions for great books, visit the MPS Reads webpage

The website Hands On As We Grow has tips, learning activities, and links to resources for parents and families. Visit their website to find ways to keep kids occupied with reading and math games, creative activities, and more.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to class on Monday, December 2. When students return, only 15 school days will remain until Winter Break. Make a family goal for perfect attendance in December! Great attendance is shown to build confidence, increase test scores, and help children achieve.

Please enjoy the Thanksgiving break and help children keep learning!
