MPS students are taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime event this summer during the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee. The students have been training and preparing for several months to greet visitors and assist with offering directions and answering questions about local restaurants, attractions, and Milwaukee landmarks.
The student ambassadors are embedded in The Pfister Hotel and the Hilton Milwaukee City Center. Students played a scavenger hunt downtown to learn about locations, enjoyed a cruise on the Milwaukee River, and spent time learning some of the history of the city.
The group expressed excitement about being part of a national event and possibly seeing dignitaries coming and going in the hotels. Although a bit nervous on their first day, they looked forward to meeting people from across the country and sharing the best parts of Milwaukee.
MPS partner Marcus Corporation helped set the direction of the ambassadorships and designed the training activities. Students are gaining skills in public speaking, etiquette, and hospitality, and are learning more about the democratic process and the impact of the convention. Visit Milwaukee has also partnered to support students in representing the city.
MPS is proud of our student ambassadors!
