MPS students in K3 through grade 3 return to school

Samual Clemens School

Milwaukee Public Schools opened its doors Wednesday to welcome students and staff back to in-person learning! Across the city, students eagerly arrived at schools, excited to return to classrooms. Students in K3 through grade 3 were welcomed back to school on April 14.

With school reopenings announced in March, families were given the choice to keep their children learning virtually or return to classrooms. Nearly 60 percent of families have chosen to send children back to school.

“We are excited to welcome students and staff back,” said Superintendent Dr. Keith P. Posley. “The entire district is embracing this opportunity to provide a new sense of normalcy, provide a rigorous academic experience, and offer wellness supports so students finish the year strong.”

Extensive preparations have been made in schools to accommodate physical distancing, provide personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure that staff and students remain safe and healthy.

Children in grades 4 to 8 will return to schools on Monday, April 19.

High school seniors and students who are in need of support will return on Monday, April 26.
