November Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program: Eat Better Together

Fresh fruits and veggies programThe Department of Nutrition Services will continue the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program in the month of November. The produce items provided will help your family Eat Better Together. Weekly produce bag themes during the month of November include: Immune Boosters, Super Foods for Super Kids, and Eating Better this Thanksgiving.

Milwaukee Public Schools will offer the free weekly produce bags at MPS Stop, Grab, and Go locations on November: 5th, 12th, and 19th

Each produce bag has been specially selected to provide healthy fresh fruits and vegetables that are paired with nutrition facts and recipes. The items in each bag are described below:

11/5/2020- Immune Boosters

(Ingredients for: Turmeric Lemon Tea and Chicken Noodle Soup. Fruits provided are high in vitamin C)
Produce Items: Turmeric, Lemons, Star Fruit, Papaya, Herbs and Vegetables for Chicken Noodle Soup: Diced Carrots, Diced Celery, Chopped Onions, Garlic, Fresh Parsley.

11/12/2020 - Super Foods for Super Kids

(Ingredients for: Sautéed Rainbow Chard with Mushrooms and Onions and Skillet Sweet Potatoes. Fruits provided are Superfruits)
Produce Items: Rainbow Chard, White Onion, Baby Bella Mushrooms, Garlic, Sweet Potatoes, Pomegranate, and Golden Berries

11/19/2020- Eating Better this Thanksgiving- A Holiday Meal Produce Bag

(Ingredients for: Steamed Green Beans, Cranberry Relish, Mashed Potatoes, and Apple Crisp)
Produce Items: Green Beans, Fresh Cranberries, Yukon Gold Potatoes, and Honey Crisp Apples
